Doug Minett entered the book industry in 1973 when he co-founded The Bookshelf in Guelph, Ontario. In the late 1990’s, The Bookshelf launched Canada’s first full service book website (subsequently sold to Indigo Books & Music). From 2002 to 2005, Doug served as a member of the ISO working group revising the ISBN standard and as a consultant to the International ISBN Agency. His has served on the board of directors of the Canadian Booksellers Association, the Canadian Telebook Agency, and as a founding director of BookNet Canada. In 2018, he was granted an honourary doctorate by The University of Guelph and is the founding Executive Director for the Canadian Independent Booksellers Association.
