As we realize there are many ways for conferences to be accessible and non-accessible to attendees. Attendees can note any accessibility needs or requests during registration, and we will accommodate all requests as much possible. We urge you to get in touch with us if you have any particular concerns.
Our venue, MaRS, has put together a Guest Accessibility Package that has more detailed information about their venue including safety and security procedures, an accessible washroom directory, and amenities that may not be accessible. Tech Forum and ebookcraft main day events (March 19 and 20) take place mostly in the lower concourse with some streams on the ground floor, and ebookcraft workshops (March 18) all take place on the ground floor. Our after-party venue, Watson’s, is also a ground-floor accessible building with a ground-floor washroom.
You can read BookNet Canada’s Accessibility Policy here.
With a diverse array of attendees and speakers at the conference — ebookcraft in particular — opportunities will arise to lend a hand to someone with visual impairments. Please feel free to offer assistance if it looks like it would be welcome. Checking in at break times to see if a service dog needs to go out, or if someone needs a washroom or coffee, would be great. Also, checking in at lunch to see if someone needs a plate of food loaded up is helpful. Remember: Never pet any service animals and don’t share any meat with the dogs, no matter what their eyes tell you!

Unfortunately, we’re not able to provide a student discount. However, it’s worth checking with your school’s administration to see if they have a professional development budget that could sponsor students. We have tips for that.
Not at this time. We will update this page if any become available. But we do have tips for getting your boss on board.
