Call for Proposals

We’re currently accepting proposals for talks, panels, and workshops for Tech Forum and ebookcraft 2017! Find all the details you need to submit below, and make sure to send us your proposals by Sept. 23, 2016.

Tech Forum:

We encourage professionals in North America and abroad to submit proposals on any of the following topics:

  • Children’s publishing
  • Innovations and collaborations from the library sector
  • Sound & audiobooks
  • Data analysis
  • Technological solutions and approaches to encouraging diversity in publishing and with readers
  • Accessibility
  • Free content & content marketing
  • Augmented reality
  • Encounters with fandom
  • Bloggers, Tumblr, and Booktube
  • Higher education
  • Internal workflows, including managing internal data
  • Pricing strategies, especially for digital
  • International markets & global publishing trends
  • Alternative publishing models
  • Comics & graphic novels

ebookcraft:

We encourage professionals in North America and abroad to submit proposals on any current, insightful topics pertaining to ebook development. In particular, proposals on the following topics are welcome:

  • Accessibility
  • Javascript
  • Automation
  • Screen typography & font management
  • Quality assurance
  • Metadata

Presentation formats:

Proposals will be considered for workshops, presentations, and panel discussions. A typical time slot is 45-60 minutes for presentations and panels; workshops vary.

Tips for submitting your proposal:

  • Tell us about yourself: why would you be the best person to talk about this topic?
  • Give us as much detail about your proposed presentation as possible.
  • Remember that these are short presentations, so it’s best to narrow your scope.
  • Your presentation can be practical or theoretical, but make sure it contains practical take-aways for the audience.
  • Avoid sales pitches.

Suggestions also welcome!

If you’re not a presenter but would still like to suggest a topic or speaker, please get in touch. After all, these conferences are for you.

Please send proposals and suggestions for Tech Forum to techforum@booknetcanada.ca and for ebookcraft to ebookcraft@booknetcanada.ca by Sept. 23, 2016 at 11:59 p.m. EDT. No phone calls, please. All submissions will be considered by the conference committees. Successful candidates will be contacted with more information on presentation opportunities at Tech Forum and ebookcraft 2017.
